beefalo,
Welcome to the forum. You are at the right place. I'm sure others will chime in. Look a little lower at the manufacturer specific sections. Good luck. _________________ 6039

Welcome Beefao, I am burning an LDJ 100k furnace. I ran a 30' chimney outside of our comercial building and hooked the furnace in-line with the ng furnace. The building is broken up with sections that were added to the building over the years, so it is hard to heat. Last year I used 10 tons of corn and 4 tons of pellets between the furnace and stove. The furnace will run thru the 14 bu bin of corn in 6 to 7 days when the weather is mild or 3 days when it's real cold and is running straight out. It puts out great heat! The LDJ model has some improvments and if you look at their web sight, they give a list of their upgrades. Make sure you do a heat loss index before you decide how many BTU you will need. Both LDJ and LMF have 2 furnace models to choose from. The LDJ is variable, and if I am not mistaken, the LMF is not. I know folks who burn both and both get the job done. Many LMF owners have made modification to help the burning process. Corn4myheat will have some great input on that. Good luck in your choice. _________________ LDJ 165K BOILER / Harman PC45 / Kan_Burn Cleaner/Mover - the original |

Nogaspains pretty much summed up the differences of the two units. The LDJ has more features but they both are based on the same basic design. Availability, price, and local dealership are some concerns that I would have. Either unit will get the job done and after researching all furnaces a few years ago when I bought mine, I settled on the LDJ. _________________ LDJ 100,000 BTU FURNACE-SHUR KLEEN SCREENER |

LMF here , bought it when it was hard to buy anything that was bio-fueled
there was a 4-6mos waiting list and I wrote in and asked the same question as you and I got a reply from a dealer that had 3 LMF furnaces in route and he had 1 that wasnt sold,he was going to use it for a display
model in his showroom but would sell it to me, so that was the reason I went with LMF over LDJ, I have looked at both models and are both well built..The LDJ is more like the GMC truck and the LMF is like the Chevy, both the same model but the GMC comes with more bells and whistles..for a price also, I have made alot of modifacations to mine
to bring it up to a Johnny Cash version,,,,LMF-ldj with my own bell and whistle Corn-4 _________________ LMF furnace

C4, good to see you back here again!
I also have the LMF mainly for the same reasons that Corn4myheat stated. I have modified my unit to my liking and have been satisfied with it. The only problem i had was a bad burn pot auger about 2 years ago. And yes, if it does break it will do it in the most coldest of weather and at about 2 in the morning too I actually got my replacement motor from a LDJ dealer and have had no problems since.
In my opinion they are both good units and you probably can't go wrong with either. Dealer support is one thing that can really help you make a decision. _________________ LMF 100k Furnace

Reading about NG and propane prices, especially propane. I filled my tanks (2-500's) at $1.20 per gallon. I can't touch that even with the corn price I got, but I look at it this way.
The only propane usage I'll have is the genset, which, if I have no outages is very little but the tanks are full for when the time comes I might need it in even 2 or 3 years from now.
Sort of a savings account. _________________ Flipmeisters Specialty Products, LLC

I went and bought an extra tank. You can pick up An tanks and convert them to Propane very cheaply which is what I did. Besides, if you own it, you can paint it any color you want. _________________ Flipmeisters Specialty Products, LLC
