| Occasionally I'll see an ember fly out the vent (outside). Doesnt last very Long before it goes out. Just wondering if that's normal. My vent comes out the back of the stove, rises 3' and then goes through the wall another 18 or so. |

I don't know if I entirely agree with that. I would presume that if you have an ocassional ember exit the vent pipe, your A/F ratio may be too lean, your draft fan is set too high or a combination of both.
I've never had an embers exit my vent cap (at least that I saw) in 13 odd years of cooking pellets and corn. _________________ Flipmeisters Specialty Products, LLC

I'm still thinking about this one. I think if the exhaust internals are designed right that shouldn't happen. _________________ Countryside 3500P (pedestal version) used 8-9 yrs, 24/7 during days requiring heat. All original motors. Burns moldy corn, and pellets equally well. Burn it if you got it.

I guess I'll digress. I've never seen any burning embers emitted from my venting but then, I also don't remember watching intently either.
I could see it occuring, I think. You'd think that between the flame/combustion gas path trhough the HX and then through the whirling draft fan blades and onto the venting run, any afterburning particles would get consumed......You'd think.
Of course the fly ash was combusting at some point and there is fly ash present in the venting and the clean out Tee...So, why not.
Anything is possible. Of course I combust primarily corn but in the old days I ran exclusively pellets (before I cam to the realization that corn was easier for me). _________________ Flipmeisters Specialty Products, LLC

one of Baby Boilers more intrinsic characteristics is the ability to run it with some of the system shields not locked completely down. I Know -- parents don't let your children try this at home.
Any way the point is I can lift a lid and check the products of combustion immediately as they exit the vessel heat exchanger and see if the burn is correct. Recently I began to blend some new pellet material into the mix and their hi ash produces some "shooting stars"
But they are never long lived past the exhaust point. ( more than a few inches)
Maybe its simply the fuel your using? A longer exhaust may help -- also take a trick from the chunk wood guys that side exhaust -- they elbow down into a 55 gal barrel. you wouldn't nee 55 gal size -- but a camouflaged 5 gal steel pail would be great. _________________ When you turn your boiler on - - Does it return the favor?
