I got mine for $1400 back in '05, I bought this stove to burn corn but could not find a good supplier nor did I have a way of storing it. But thanks to the guys on this site I'm storing and burning corn!

I kind of look at self ignition as another reason to be complacent about a unit. Complacency breeds non maintenance and non maintenance breeds bitch'in about problems....on this site. Laughing

That's a good one. Mine self-ignites, but I turn that feature off just because I want to know if it ever goes out, in which case I turn the auto-light back on just long enough to get it going again.....

You would thing that one of these company's would make a self starter from a small propane tank or if one had NG in the house, I can replace the starter on the bbq grill for about 5 bucks. gas furnaces have had pilot lights for years and I'm sure now they light up with out a pilot light.

As for starting my self I did that for 20 years with the wood burning stove and one of the reasons for switching to a self starter was no one home during the day any more and with an all electric house the heating bills were out of this world.
