Have a St. Croix Lancaster that has been working well for the past few winters. Can't find the book on it. Anyone have figures for burn rate over 24 hours at the various settings?
I am trying to figure out cost for corn for a winter and in searching have not come across the information. |

The St. Croix website has most of their manuals in PDF that you can download and print. _________________ St. Croix Revolution - Third Year

Yeah, sorry 'bout that, got lookin' thru my manual, doesn't show that. I DO know that on program 1,thermostat not calling for heat, Revolution will eat a bag a day, when it''s colder, it eats more, last Feb. I was running prog 3, heat level 4, she'd eat just under 2. Sorry I couldn't help _________________ St. Croix Revolution - Third Year

Guys, I don't know what a bag is. I have 300 bushels of corn in the grain bin. I have a neighbor who combines it, dries it and then drives over with a truckfull and augers it into the grain bin. I buy it by the bushel, 300 each fall now. I sift/clean it using by pouring over a couple of screens into Rubbermaid trash barrels and then pull them to the house where they sit outside. Each day I take a few old milk buckets out, get corn and bring it in and put into the hopper.
Anyone know where I can find the figures on burning in pounds per 24 hours? Last winter the weight was 59 pounds per bushel, dried to 8%. Burned nice and hot. The later stuff after the snows hit was at 14-16% moisture and was back to 56 pounds per bushel.
I like the stove, works well. Am just trying to get a read on what the factory says it will do and they don't seem to put the info up anywhere. |

| The burn rate is in the Digital Control Board Service Manual 1=1.25 lbs/hr, 2=2, 3 = 3.15, 4=3.7, 5 = 4.5 lbs/hr - is this what you needed? |

Thank you PetKoz... just what I was looking for.
Somehow I missed it in my looking. Not surprising as I do miss a lot at times. |

Something doesnt seem right to me. The lancaster is advertised as having a rated output of 40000 btu/hr.
56lb test weight corn @ 15% moisture content is around 8400 BTU/lb
8400 BTU/lb x 4.25 lb/hr = 35700 BTU/hr input
35700 BTU/hr x .85 (stove efficiency) = 30345 BTU/hr output
Thats 24% lower than its advertised heat output capacity.
Any thoughts / comments? |

the lancaster will burn pellets also. you would need a pellet that is rated at 8900btu/hr to equal 40000. all stoves and most other heating appliances are rated by input. that is just how it is. _________________ Keepin' warm with corn

yes rickw all btu ratings are rated as input not out put. but dont forget some people will rate corn at 9000 btu per lbs. and some pellets up to the same and less and all over the charts _________________ trained tech |
