I have a real hard time putting the retaining clip on so both sides stay engaged. This clip (front plate lock in manual) keeps the end piece and burnpot in place. any suggestions? _________________ Del-Harman PC 45, cornvac cleaner

Two words; Patience and practice.
The more you use it the easier it is. |

I found the key to this is carefully placing the burn pot on the support frame and aligning it properly at the rear area around the auger. If the burn pot is in place the retaining slot at the bottom and both the left and right side slots at the top of the front plate will have more than enough opening to slide the retaining plate in place.
I hold the retainer by the top ends, lower it flush to the front plate, and push it down into the slot on the bottom. If it is in properly, you can easily slide it back and forth (side to side) slightly and you know it is assembled properly.
When it doesn't fit, it is always because I did not get the burn pot aligned on the support rails and one side is sticking out too far forward blocking the retaining slots so the retainer will not have room to slide into the slot on the bottom or on one side. |

I found that if I had been using the pellet pot and switch back over to the corn pot, the end of the auger has some buildup on it and the stirrer doesn't seat all the way in. When burning only corn, sometime when I clean, there gets a little piece of corn or pellet up in there and when I try to put the retaining clip on, it doesn't want to fit. Pull it apart and clean the end of the auger a little better, and the retaining clip should slide right into place. Good Luck. _________________ LDJ 165K BOILER / Harman PC45 / Kan_Burn Cleaner/Mover - the original |

Cruiser....are you around the Archbold, west unity area? have relatives there. I can adjust the front plate so one side has room for the retaining key but not the other side. Tried to make sure front plate was flat and not curved and ground down the retaining clip so it would slide in easier but didn't like to mess with it in that way. _________________ Del-Harman PC 45, cornvac cleaner

is it a new pot did it fit before? I pursched a new pot lastyear and it would not fit I had to elongate the tab hole on one side.
I also have a pot that is warped from heat ad is a real bear to place. |

It is not the front plate but the burn pot that is not pushed back far enough (unless it is warped or distorted somehow) Use a flashlight to view the bottom slot and both end grooves that the retainer sets in. You will easily see if one or all of them do not have the space to accept the retainer. Look at the rear end of the burn pot to be sure there is no build up on it that is holding it forward too far.
I am on Lake Erie between Toledo and Cleveland, not close to Archbold. |

thanks for the advice. the pot is 4-5 years old. it does seem to be warped somewhat. Have small hole pot, will try that. has anyone used it for corn and pellet mix? _________________ Del-Harman PC 45, cornvac cleaner
