Hello everyone,
After many years of service the agitator motor on my 6039 finnally gave out so i am stuck waiting a week or more for a replacement, My first question is, can i run the stove with no agitator or will this do damage to the stove?
My second question is ,i have a replacement auger motor(new design)
and was wondering if this would work as temp replacement till my new one arrives. I am aware that the rpm is different between them, 2 ver 4 rpm, but will this make any real difference for a short time or will it do damage to my control board? i normally burn a pellet/corn mix as i have no reliable bulk source of corn, usually about 6to1 ratio but since the agitator has started to go i have been decreasing the corn content to reduce clinkers.
Im new here so any info anyone has would be appreciated, sorry if this is a duplicate,im having issues with the search function.

Yes to all your questions. You can use your original burn pot as a clinker pot however you will have to add exhaust air to help prevent a "lava" build up to the auger chute. You will also have to dump the clinker twice a day. I just pop it up with a screwdriver and flip it over the side.

The agitator and auger motors are the same voltage The RPM is controlled by the gearbox so you can use your spare auger motor as a temp if you wish. You might want to set the rotation interval to 1/2 speed though.

I think if you master running clinker style you won't want to go back to stirring. It's soo much cleaner to operate this way.

Cool! Thanks for taking the time to answer my post, i had actually, after much thought, decided to swap them and just see what happens. It also seems that the auger motor has now decided to start squealing, so i guess the auger motor won't go to waste lol

Thanks Again!

I agree totally with Blue Wolf. I had my agitator motor give out last fall and have absolutely loved not having one.
I put a little hand full of oyster shell chicken peck in the bottom of my burn pot and my clinker dumps right out when I clean it. I dump mine in the morning and again in the evening. Very easy and I now have the most consistent manageable flame I have ever had from my 6039.

Couple of questions about the 6039 running clinker style.

Before you pop out the clinker do you have to shut the stove down and if not is there enough burning corn left to keep it burning?

Also bluewolf stated, you have to add exhaust air, do you mean increase it over what it is running with the stirrer?

No you don't have to shut it down to dump the clinker. If you don't think theres enough burning material left to keep it going you can add a handfull of corn or pellets a minute before dumping.
When I said adding more air I meant I just pull the draft slide out a little more. You will will have to experiment a little to find what works right for your stove.

confused...how can u dump the pot and have fuel in it to keep it going? Aren't you essentially dumping the fuel, albeit momentarily. There wouldn't be any fuel to burn...someone explains this to me

What you do is leave the pot in the stove totally. You have a "clinker hanger" in the bottom of the pot, it loops up to grab with some pliers. You pull that piece out, I then take a spoon, tilt the clinker/clinker hanger piece and scrape all the burning corn and "corn lava" that is burning on top of the clinker, off and down into the burn pot. You can then take the clinker and hanger out of the stove. I drop mine down in the side of the burn chamber so it cools way down before I try and move it from the stove at all. Then you put another clinker hanger in the pot. Wait 24-48 hours and repeat. I have been throwing any pieces of cob and stalk in as well at that point. I try to pick any I see when I add corn and usually have about a handful ready to go. Hope this description makes since...

The only thing I do not like about this is that since there is so much less ash you can run alot longer without a total shut down. So when you change the clinker you tend to lose a little bit of ash into the air from the room blower. I never had this before with the stirrer because I was shutting down almost everyday and didn't have to open the door with the unit running.
