| Does anyone have any experience burning wheat in there Auburn?? I am trying some. I filled it up yesterday morning and everything seemed to be working good. I left it on setting 3 on thermo mode. When I got home the fire was out and the burn pot was overfilled with wheat. Was this because the burn pot got too full, because too much wheat was coming out? If so how can I adjust that? |

sounds to me like maybe you need to play with the draft setting maybe the fire pot is too cold to handle the extra load when the thermostat calls for heat ? just a thought _________________ ST CROIX SCF 050

I was just wondering which burn pot you were using. I have a new SCF 050 that I haven't hooked up yet. I was told by a dealer that the internal parts of the auburn and the050 are identical except the 050 has a improved heat exchanger and a 600-800 cfm blower instead of a 250 like the auburn. I also plan on burning mostly wheat left over from our farm so my dealer said I needed the 70$ multi-fuel burn pot. When I received the multi-fuel pot I noticed that is identical except for at the very top of the rear of it, there are six less air holes than the pot that came in my stove. I asked my dealer if this minor difference was justifiable and then he told me he wasn't sure which burn pot to use for wheat. Does wheat need less air than corn? Will these six little holes matter that much?? I don't want to be changing these pots out everytime I go from wheat to corn or want to mix the two. I called even temp and they wouldn't let me talk to a tech person because I wasn't a dealer. Just wondering if this could be part of your problem getting wheat to burn in your auburn???? My dealer was supposed to be finding out which pot I need from eventemp but that was two weeks ago. If anyone can help it will be appreciated!!!! _________________ ST. CROIX SCF 050 |

Wildman, Jammer I believe has experience with your model of furnace and has burned corn and I think wheat as well. You may have to send him an instant message. He should have the answer you need.
Sorry to hear that EvenTemp couldn't answer your question directly. This is not uncommon for manufacturers though. It is really the responsibility of the dealer to know what he is selling and get all info to the customer. If the factory stopped to take every call from the public it could be hard for them to do their job.
Let us know what you find out.

IDFarmer has also reported success burning wheat, in a Bixby. There's some info on that in the WIKI at http://forum.iburncorn.com/wiki/index.php/Other_grains , with a link to a thread for some more detail. I'd be glad to add info in that WIKI page on successes with other stoves. Please report back on how how make out. Wishing you success. _________________ Bixby 115 MaxFire.
