think again, clean mine every week thought i was doing a good job, boy was i wrong, just start really banging on the back wall and see how much stuff comes out you will be surprised i have already had to close my draft down some from where it was because its getting much better flow _________________ ST CROIX SCF 050

I have to do the same with my Afton Bay, once every week or two I take my bricks out. Use a small rubber mallet and bang the crap out of the back panel and WOW like you said lots and lots of black crap falls into the side traps! My stove runs like a champ when doing this on a regular basis... Should be included in the owners manual !!! _________________ St. Croix Afton Bay

Same...i vacumned it out every day...and i do mean every day after work.. then i pulled it apart for the end of the season cleaning and I was suprised i didnt have a fire. the flue was so pluged with fly ash that a 4 inch flue was probably only about 3/4" open...but it still burned just like a champ I didnt notice any real difference in the way the flame looked but i do bet i had a drop in heat production..
BTW i have the Revolution Furnace. |
