| I have a 3500 with a stirator. The stirator does not turn until the stove warms up. Then it works just fine. It seems to not have any power to it while the stove is cold. Is this normal? |

cornstar6207,
No that isn't normal. My first thought is to make sure there is a slight clearance between the stirrer and the pot. Also, make sure the pot is seating correctly. When the pot gets hot it will expand and would give the clearance.
The next thing is to check the bushing. If you are able to loosen up the stirrer motor to get slack in chain, remove the chain. See if you can turn the stirrer by hand. If it want turn then the bushing either needs replaced or lubricated.
Here again, once the heat gets the bushing hot, it may be expanding to allow the motor to turn the stirrer.
Your best bet is to make a homemade pot as a lot of us have, and eliminate the stirrer. You will be so pleased that you did. I don't necessarily recommend the AES pot. I think the home made pots are not as easy to control the buildup. If you are not able to make it yourself, get the dimensions that hav3e been posted on here previously and find a fabricator to make it for you.
"Sign 2024" was making the clinkerpots, but he is not responding to people's request on this post. _________________ CHEERS,

When was your stove built? As far as I know the stir motor runs when the control is on unless I turn it off. I think the newer stoves have to have the stirrer control on to a setting. Maybe the control has been changed so that the stove has to warm up before the stirrer runs. That can be checked by opening the stirrer side panel and watching the chain slack on the stirrer drive.
I don't have build-up problems with my homemade clinker pot. It runs for a couple of days on the lower heat settings before it needs the clinker removed. _________________ Countryside 3500P (pedestal version) used 8-9 yrs, 24/7 during days requiring heat. All original motors. Burns moldy corn, and pellets equally well. Burn it if you got it.

Tallcorn,
I got my words mixed up.
I meant to say that with the homemade clinkerpot, it is easier to control the buildup. Yes, I do not have any problem controlling the buildup. _________________ CHEERS,
