It's 9 degrees outside this morning, woke up to the furnace running. I have 1800 sq ft up and down. The burner is in the basement hooked up to ducts. It is set on 4, shouldn't I be able to get more heat out of it? I'm burning pellets, haven't tried corn yet. this is the first time it has been this cold since we have installed burner.

Your heating requirements may excend the ability of the furnace to meet them. What is the actual heat loss of your house when the temperature is 9 degrees. That can vary depending on the wind, insulation, etc.

Heat Output1 50,000 to 75,000 BTU/hr.
Heating Capacity2 800 - 2,000 sq. ft.

Heating Specifications

1 BTU output will vary depending on the quality and type of fuel. Use PFI listed fuels for the best results.
2 Heating capacity will vary depending on floor plan layout of your home, degree of insulation, and the outside temperature.
3 Fuel size may effect the actual rate of fuel feed and burn times. Fuel feed rates may vary by as much as 20%. Use PFI listed fuel for best results.

corn, try 80 - 20 mix, you'll notice difference, but i'd bet not enough to keep furnace off completely.

when I set my 6220 on 5, it's feeding corn at 8.5 lbs per hr. I get 130 degrees at the plenum stack, when it gets to single digits outside, my 2200 ft drafty old farmhouse is too much for it, but it takes the edge off. More moderate temps and it does pretty good.

It's been pretty cold the last few days..I have had mine set on 5..the house is 70/71 daytime...and 68/70 at night. I'm using pellets, so I guess I'm happy..Sure beats filling the propane tank!
