Well I've been using the Tarm 2.5 corn boiler since Nov. now. Up to last weeks neg. degree weather I was using about 3.5 bu. of corn a day. This is corn that probably isn't as clean as many people us. This corn went from the field to the combine to the dryer into my gravity wagon and then finally into my boiler. I clean out the burn pot area once a day, sometimes every other day. I don't clean it so much that the fire goes out. About twice a month I'll clean out the tabulators "the heat exchange area". I would be nice to have one of those fire retardant shop vacs. Since the neg. degree hit here in MI I think I've jumped up to about 7 bu. a day. At first the boiler wasn't keeping up with the house demands, but then I remembered that I didn't have it set on the highest setting. You can control the amount of BTU output by changing the timing of when the auger puts corn into the burn pot and speed of the blower. I've turned it up now, so we'll see how it does now.
