http://abcnews.go.com/2020/

Friday 20/20 had a good show about oil/gas. now it was nothing about pollution/warming so sorry there is no fuel for you guys who's passion is to just sit and argue about warming

this is about greed, corruption, politics (both sides bad),true economic price of oil, cost of buying from middle east...., etc etc

this will make you think

there are 6 parts to the story since it was the full hour show

Shell CEO says (costly) oil here to stay

MarketWatch
SANTA BARBARA (MarketWatch) -- Royal Dutch Shell's chief executive sought to manage expectations for new, alternative energy sources on Thursday, predicting that oil will remain the dominant energy source for decades -- not to mention one that will become more difficult to obtain, and hence more expensive......

....Shell has been a proponent of cap and trade, arguing that it could help develop a modern energy economy and create jobs.

"I'm still very hopeful we'll get something passed," Voser said, though he added: "I'm skeptical [about] this year."

Good Thread Greif. UP NORT. Agree, have for along time. All you have to do is follow the money, pure and simple. All talk, no action. I have said it before and will say it again. We have done it to ourselves, and have nobody to blame but ourselves. We gathered it in on the way up and now when having to pay the piper--complain. Just ask yourself if you complained when the times were good. I am just as much to blame as the other one. Problem is I have left the cleanup to my children and grandchildren.

Five Thousand Gulf Oil Spills
Climate Science— david @ 16 June 2010

That’s the rate that people are releasing carbon to the atmosphere from fossil fuel combustion and deforestation today. I know, it’s apples and oranges; carbon in the form of oil is more immediately toxic to the environment than it is as CO2 (although CO2 may be more damaging on geologic time scales). But think of it — five thousand spills like in the Gulf of Mexico, all going at once, each releasing 40,000 barrels a day, every day for decades and centuries on end. We are burning a lot of carbon!

And yet, strangely, the Sun did rise again today. Guess we are just going to have to adapt.

I have some BAD NEWS folks, we only have 3 - 5 Billion years of sun left. After that you better have your Duracel batteries stockpiled. Shocked Laughing

Then whats left of our bones will be floating around on a cold dark planet called Earth. We better enjoy it while we can and take care of it.

The first step we need to make is a public "Castration" of the BP oil executives. As the family jewels are dropping to the fishermans dock they will truly feel what our earth has received by their stupid inactions.

As the sun dies it will grow into a giant that will consume the Earth so there is no fear of the cold. Laughing Rolling Eyes

I'd say that in the grand scheme of things, those of us who are here now, won't be too concerned.

Speaking of oil, I see BP has pulled the lid in preparation of replacing it. According to those in the know, as additional 5 million gallons will escape unhindered while BP fiddles around......

I have a realy bad feeling that all this oil is somewhere below the surface of the Gulf waiting to pollute at some inopportune time....

Sort of like neapolitan ice cream or a chocolate layer cake...
