This will be the third winter for mine.
Still no noticeable wear (no signs of rust or holes starting)
But my chimney is only three foot long. Very Happy

That's a pretty open-ended question. Depends on what the thing is made out of, what kind of liner if any, what kind of appliances are attached to it. Is it inside or outside? Does it have a cap?

The lifespan of a masonry chimney that is properly lined, capped, cleaned on a regular schedule and re-pointed when needed is just about limitless. But as we all know a lot of those things don't happen like they should. Rolling Eyes

Mine is going on its 5th heating season and no signs of wear. Mine is also only 3ft long. Cool

Depends on what you burn and how you maintain it. If you are like most homo sapiens, probably a few years at most.

Venting is considered a consumable to a point. It can be consumed in short order if you are lax about cleaning and summerizing it or it can last indefinitely, if, you take care of it. It's that over-the-summer dormancy that kills it. The ash and residue in there draws moisture and the nitric acid produced by corn eats it up.

Mine lasted three years, but I got four out of it with some muffler tape. Just waiting for my warranty replacement to show...all most two months now!

I suspect it all has to do with how hot it runs. My neighbor has a Simpson on his pellet stove that's 9 years and still just fine.

Sort of like a car exhaust. Just around town they last about 3 years. Freeway driving, who knows.

I am going on 3 years with no noticable wear on the inside but he out side pipe is rusting on the seams, (simpson duravent) about 6.5' long I should be able to make it throught he season. My intake had holes rusted through it last fall. I install pvc this year and so far so good. I have been checking the temp on the intake with a digital raytek thermometer and well within the safe range.

Again, it's not how much you spend, it all has to do with the operating temperature of the venting itself. If it's running too cold and condensing and you are running corn, you are gonna get nitric acid and I don't care what grade of stainless it is, it's gonna degrade over time.

If you have a cold, condensing vent, that warranty will come in handy...when you replace it.
