Hello long tme no talk.I have a question for my son n law.Can you have a T or make 1 right with your exhaust before it goes outside and still have it draw and work ok? The total length will be about 7-8 ft.Thanks,Woody! _________________ Please,Bless & support out troops.

Should be okay. You would have to look in the owners/installation manual for the specific unit to be sure that the configuration that you want to use meets their requirements. They usually list the total feet that the exhaust can be and the number of feet that it can run horizontally. 90* elbows or tee's, I believe are calculated using 5 ft. for each one, 45* elbows 3 ft, horizontal sections - actual footage, and vertical sections 1/2 ft per foot of section.
If you let us know what unit this is for, I am sure that some users of that you can help you out more. _________________ Quadrafire Castile Insert

Thanks former Farmer.I didnt think to look in the manual. It's the same stove I have. They just bought one from a guy in Deckerville tonight. They were thinking of running the exhaust thru a closet that is not used and then thru an outside wall.I think they will just run it up on an angle to the outside from where it will be in the living room. Thanks again. _________________ Please,Bless & support out troops.

It should work "like a charm". I have two tees plus a 5 foot straight pipe going outside and it works great. If you want some extra assurance of getting a draft if you have a power outage, add a tee on the outside end and a length of vertical pipe. You should have some weather protection on the top end if you go that way. Always use a tee with a cleanout behind the stove if you can't vaccum the pipe from the outside.
