Does anyone have hints as to how to keep the frost from forming around the outside air intake pipe -- it will eventually smother the fire if not brushed off...this just happens when the temperatures are below zero for a night...

Is this at the opening on the outside end of the pipe? I've never seen that happen. Is there snow? Where is the intake?
