I don't know what else to call it, it kind of looks like a basket? My husband noticed that the furnace went out, which is odd, she has been running stellar this season, all kinks worked out. He took out that basket think and one of the welds has broken. Anyone else have this happen?

Sounds like it's the burn pot. If a weld breaks and the burn pot distorts, the combustion air can leak around the burn pot and will change the way the fuel burns and that can cause the fire to be extinguished. Either replace the burn pot or have a welding shop repair the old one.

I believe I had the same problem last year when I was having so much trouble with the defective computer boards. A weld on the left side of the burn pot let go (spot weld) and the whole burn pot started to sit in the frame work lop-sided. As a result the flapper door on the front did not line up properly and was not closing completely resulting in a burn-out. I fixed the problem on a temporary basis by tapping lightly with a small hammer until the weld slipped back into position. Things worked pretty well untill it worked its way out again over a period of a few weeks. I solved the probem during the summer by getting a neighbour to re-weld the spot and have had no trouble with it since. Scott
