US Stove is also buying back my 6300 which has been plagued with soot problems since the first week I was running it.

The engineer I've spoken with said they have ceased production on the 6500 - which is a 6300 with the retro fit kit installed - no different. They will not be producing this design of a multi-fuel furnace.

I am now fighting with them to cover my install which wasn't free and am being pushed off to their insurance company to file a claim. If I get no where with them it's time to release the hounds and get a lawyer involved. No way in hell we are eating the install because their product is a lemon.

Seems very snakelike for USSC to have known of the issues with the 6300 only to turn around and sell them as a '6500' with the same issues.

Thanks for the info edicted,

As much as I don't want to deal with this issue I guess I am going to have to get rid of my 6500 while I can.Did you have to go through a lot of B.S. to get them to take the unit back? How are they going to pick it up?

Thanks for your post!

I dealt with them for about 3 months - trying to fix the problems. After many tweaks to the settings, add ons, and nothing getting better I expressed my dissatisfaction with the unit.

I bounced around a few times between Claims, Engineering, and back to Claims.

The way my return is setup was between USSC and the place I purchased it. So I am to return the unit myself to the store and the store is going to refund the full purchase price.

I must be the only one that hasn't had problems with their 6300. I replaced the agitator...........and thats about it. I installed the retrofit kit in the fall. Keeps the house toasty.

Wish I could be in the same boat. This thing has been a PITA. Was really looking forward to not burning/buying oil.

I guess if their product was up to the job there wouldn't be so many returns and problems. The place I purchased mine from has had 20 or so returns/replacements from selling 45 6300s.

turbo I also have had very few problems with mine, I was getting a small amount of soot last year but after I installed the new exhaust fan and sealed it off from the return air its been working perfect, I have not seen anymore soot.

I was thinking the same thing about the fingers crossed Laughing
the quickest way for something to stop working is to boost about how good its been working Laughing Laughing

So if I understand you correctly, they have stopped making are not going to make the 6300 or the 6500 models anymore?

So they are going to stick to pellet units and that's it?

Did you really have to fight with them to get them to take it back?
Thanks for all the info.

From what the engineer told me yes, they have ceased production of the 6500 (which is the same as the 6300 but includes the retro fit kit). the 6300 was a previous model that is no longer made.

Not sure what they plan on doing for future units. Though I've noticed a few places offering the 6500 for around $1,300 http://www.ruralking.com/furnace-corn-and-pellet-320-lb-hopper.html?cvsfa=1908&cvsfe=2&cvsfhu=303033333430343038 while others are selling them for $4,000... http://www.dynamitebuys.com/store/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=1623

Stock dump?

I have not had to fight with them to take it back. That went smooth. Where I am hung up is with the install costs. I am being pushed off to their insurance company so I can try and recoup the installation costs.[/url]
