Also if it was a conponent say drawing too much current, it would not make sense that the control would reset when touched! It could happen by chance but everytimne I touch the controller it resets itself. |
I agree, I didn't know it reset when touched, I might have missed that. Is the power wire grounded appropriately? If it resets when you touch it, that would indicate to me that either the keypad is shorting out or the controller box itself is moving and you have an electrical short or loose wire. Does the box move when you press on the keypad?
Bottom line the controller should not be resetting, and that is the reason your system doesn't go into high mode. It's not a sensor or anything else, it's this reset problem.
You can disconnect the upper auger by pulling the wires off, they are just attached with slide-on connectors. You might need pliers, but you can pull the wires off and put them back on easily. So start there. Take those wires off (actually you only have to take one off), make sure it's not touching anything, and give it a few minutes to see if your unit stops resetting. You said it was resetting a lot, which tells me it might be happening every time the augers turn on.
If that doesn't do it, re-attach those wires and try the lower auger. If that doesn't do it, try the fan.
Don't leave anything disconnected. Just do a quick 5 minutes test to find the problem, then reconnect everything.
If it still resets when you touch the keypad, tell your dealer you have a bad controller and you want him to fix it or you want it replaced.
If it makes you feel any better, my M250 has been burning corn all winter without one hickup, other than I had a wasp nest in my blower fan when I fired it up last fall which made it sound like it was going to explode. I just dump corn in every day, clean it weekly, and it works like a champ. Sorry you are having issues, but rest assured the unit will run with very little maintenance once this problem is fixed. _________________ Maxim M250 outdoor corn/pellet burner

I tried disconnecting the upper auger, controller still resets itself. I disconnected the lower auger, upper auger still working and started filling the chute, styrted to worry me as I knew I would not be at location long so I shut it down before noticing if the controller was resetting!
Looking at the parts manual it looks like there is the following components:
Firebox sensor
Fan relay
combustion fan
2 augers
air switch
gas valve
ignition module.
I will try disconnecting one at a time when im on site longer.
Still waiting for a responce from CB, since Monday! |

| I disconnected each of these components one at a time and the controller still resets itself. Last thing is to remove the controller and see if there is a loose wire. Other than that I'll have to wait for CB to return my call. waiting one week now for a response. |

Pancura I hope they call you soon, really frustrating when they leave you hanging like this I know. Controler is messed up, or some connection is shorting with something. I hope you system gets going right before it gets warm. _________________ Maxim 175, second year, corn |

| He was afraid to break something. Funny because it only took 4 small nuts to get it out. Anyhow I received a new controller and my boiler is up and running. It was obviously the controller that prevented the unit from functioning properly. Thanks for all the help. |

| Well my furnace worked for 8 weeks and stirator melted. Cost me $50 local dealer indicated this is not a warranty part. He indicated $200 for a stainless replacement. |

Sounds like you are really cranking, but mine did the same thing next year.
My dealer replaced mine for free, and then he gave me one of the new stainless ones this year without even asking. In short, sounds like your dealer sucks...
If you burn corn I think you might have less problems with the stirrer because it doesn't burn quite as hot. That's been my experience. _________________ Maxim M250 outdoor corn/pellet burner

My aerator replacement last year was free. I inquired this year about the stainless replacement and I had to pay for it if I wanted it. I don't remember the price quoted, but it was high.
The good news is the aerator I have now lasted part of last season and all of this season and still looks to be in perfect shape. I'm done burning for the year.
