We haven't run anything in about ten days or so. Looks like the heating season is finally over for us here in the deep south.

Now to grass cutting season!! What is your preference of mower:

Deere
Cub Cadet
Kabota
Grass Hopper
Honda
Toro
Etc.

It's been weeks since I have burned anything. What kind of prep should I take for summer shutdown? I have heard suggestions of spraying non stick skillet spray on the firebox and pot to keep it from rusting. Is this a good idea?

I have a John Deere 332 and a Scag zero turn. I only need one but can't bring myself to part with either.

I'm still burning (unfortunately) but it would be a good idea to see the best way to clean and prep for the summer. Kap? Anyone else?

Non stick skillet spray? If so, would you then have to clean that before burning again in the fall/winter? I'm anxious to see everyone's thoughts and suggestions, thanks!

A spray can of veg oil seems to work pretty good. It just disappears when you have your first burn so no you don't have to wipe it off. It is just as important to cover your exhaust and fresh air intake so air can't circulate through the stove. Then be sure to unplug it so if lightning strikes it won't get damaged. Last but not least write a note to yourself or anyone that may want to start the stove and mention that you have sealed the exhaust pipe and fresh air intake so they or you don't have a bad surprise. Put said note in a large envelope and leave it in the hopper.
