My stove gets super hot (I can smell the paint burning) and shuts down. The fire is still burning in the pot and no fans are running. It trips snap disc #3. I have cleaned the stove and the venting system. What am I missing?

hi tido, and welcome to the forum. if the stove gets too hot, it will trip snap disc #3, which shuts the whole stove down. this is one of the safety features. we need a little more info. is the conv. fan coming on? if so, is the stove getting too much fuel? kap _________________ Quadra Fire

Yes, all of the fans are coming on like they should. The stove appears that it is doing everything that it should until it shuts down and there is still pellets burning in the pot. And no, the feed rate is at the lowest setting.

with the fire only that high above the pot, it has me scratchin my head as to why the stove is getting that hot. have you noticed if the power of the air coming out of the heat exchanger tubes is any less? if the fan isn't moving enough air, it could cause the stove to overheat. when was the last time the conv. fan was cleaned, or replaced? _________________ Quadra Fire

Tido where in the world are you located to be burning still?
Northern Alaska?
We's running our AC's down here in Dixie.
Good Luck,

As far as I know, the fan has never been replaced. It DOES NOT blow out as far into the room as it did before. How do I clean it?

you need to remove it to clean it. should be in your manual. if it is the original, the bearings could be going too. and if you have any kids, i would be checking down the heat exchanger tubes with a flashlight to make sure "things" haven't been thrown down there and are partially plugging them. _________________ Quadra Fire
