Has anyone put a Ball tongue on there wagon and if I did would cause any problems? I am tired of that thing slamming around using the pin coupling device.

I don't think it will make much difference. Usually there is a lot of wear points and slack in them all. Truthfully If that was a good idea it would be in use already.
When the wagons were new most of the running gears were tight and would trail at a fast speed but as they get older holes get oblong and some pins wear so you get slop in the fittings. Most of these wagons we get a "good" deal on are pretty worn out and have served their usefull life.

It does help calm down the banging when you take off or slow down. Will help the wagon trail a little (very little) better. Also gets rid of the nagging doubt of whether or not your hitch pin will stay put! Cool

Your hitch pin will say set so long as you put the hairpin clip in the hole provided....... Rolling Eyes

It's not the hitch method as much as the steering mechanism and probably the fact that you have an old, used and abused wagon that some farmer never greased.

New ones pull just fine at 35 or 40 (with a pin hitch).

I use a cushion hitch on the farm for pulling wagons and tanks, and it helps alot.
