I was wondering if anyone had and knoledge about running the envirtec on gen power. Are there any circute boards that don't like that kind of power. I just bought a 5000 w portable backup gen from colman after getting the last ice this year. Don't want to be without heat like the last storm with 50,000 people in peterbough area out from ice and tree damage. Should I have any sort of protection on my hook up that will clean up the output and protect anything? _________________ Envirotec 5775

Iceshack,
My Envirotec stoves are regularly run on generator power. I have a 100kW genset that I regularly test for about an hour or so every week. I would also suspect that the Envirotec is much less susceptible to electricity fluctuation damage due to mainly electrical components versus the electronic components of some stoves. That being said, some type of surge protection can never be a bad thing. _________________ Martin.

Yes, a surge protection strip in all cases. I believe all generators produce a true sine wave, which is the same or better than utility power. _________________ Profit/Turnaround Expert: http://webpages.charter.net/rennhack1/index.html |

Yes for sure. In our area we have a never ending supply of spikes here and have the bars through out my home. Thank you for the advice though as this is the first gen I have owned and am not so sure about the stability of the power produced. I sort of thought the gens would be fairly stable but you never know. Or should I say I never know. I do have to say this forum is the greatest place though. Ask a question and you get an answer. I love it. It is like having your own 911 hotline for stoves right in your own home. _________________ Envirotec 5775

Actually the past few years the lakers have been bitting in the winter which for 30 years we have never caught one there. The biggest problem is that they are not in season then and the ministry have a dog now that smells for fish and he has no sence of hummer _________________ Envirotec 5775

I'm running a Honda EU2000i for backup. I have two of them and actually use them for my Camper in the summer but they make a nice backup in the winter and are about 40 lbs. each.. Very quite also. They are a little expensive though. They are safe to run computer equipment with. _________________ Burnin' corn in Indiana (where we grow it by the boatloads)
