| I have the stove set on 3 and I am going through 50 lbs of corn in about 12 hours. I thought I was going to get closer to 20 hours of burn time out of 50lbs. What do you other 5775 burners get out of a full hopper? |

Here is a burn rate chart that was supplied by mdonkers. He is burning a couple of envirotec stoves. I think your stove has a max rate of 8.5 lbs an hour so if you calculate it will come to about 5 lbs an hour on the #3 setting. _________________ Former corn burner

Same here, about 50 lbs in 12 hours on #3. That's with the off time at 4 seconds. i may try 5 seconds to see if it helps.
If it's cold out i have yet to see a stove heat with a bushell a day. Seems like i see that advertised all the time. I say B.S. They must mean daytime

I would say closer to 2 per day for me. _________________ Envirotec 5775

Well, sort of B.S.
This time of year, on a cold day I'm definitely in the 2 bushel per day range, yet in my first corn heating season last year, I averaged 0.82 bu/day. That ranged from a peak of 1.45 bu/day in January '06, to a low of 0.19 bu/day in May '06. So far this January (thanks to the mild start of the month), I'm averaging in the 1.3 bushel per day range.
Also if you 'reverse engineer' the stove specs... for the Envirotec to produce its rated 60,000 btu/h, you would need to burn 60,000btu/h / 7000btu/# = 8.6# per hour. 8.6 x 24 hours = 206# = 3.7 bushels per day! That's assuming the 60,000 btu rating is an input rating. If it were an output rating, then even more corn is needed to account for the stove efficiency. _________________ Martin.

Good point Martin, If you average your usage it probally would be close to a bushell a day. Thanks for setting me straight
Any luck with the newest member of your collection?

I've been trying to source another piece of flighting to replace the 1" that is missing on the bottom or a replacement auger. Apparently this was by design (in the later Dovetec models and early Envirotec models), although I have not been told why? I assume it had something to do with trying to prevent jamming. I've been told by Murray that this shouldn't be a problem, but I'm positive this is what is limiting this stove's heating capacity. I'm giving up trying to source something if I don't get any responses by noon today, and going to fab my own insert to replace the missing piece.
You can see the missing piece near the drive end of the auger...
Here's what the newer augers look like...

I was told by a long time dealer that the missing spot in the flighting was to help with jamming. Didn't work. Have you tried running it after you removed the jam? That auger defently moves less corn than my new.
Old was aprox. 50lbs in 12 hours on #8, new will do 50lbs/12hrs on #4
Also take a look at the combustion blower. My new stove seems to move alot more air than the old one. The fire is alot hotter and yellow were as the old stove was more orange. At the time i didn't have anything to compare with, as you can see i added that fan switch to the combustion blower to slow it down, that made it worse. The reason i did that was because playing with that 6039 US Stove (stirrer type) They burn alot hotter as you slow down the burn. That doesn't work on a clinker stove.
Keep me informed, i'll make it right with you. I didn't realize it was that far off until i tried this new one.

I welded in the missing flighting on the auger this afternoon...
It's certainly doing better, but still not where it could be. In the past 3 hours it's heated my 30'x40' workshop up to 7C/45F. That's running on #10 with the off timer down to the minimum (1/2 second). Not bad considering the highest outside temperature today was -7C/19F, and the shop was stone cold. Also it's running at 100% efficiency, since I don't have any exhaust hooked up yet. Yeah, it's a little smoky in there!
I think the other issue with this stove is the motor/gearbox itself. My newer stoves are running around 1.75RPM and this one is barely turning at 1 RPM.
My neighbour/dealer has a newer motor/gearbox in stock, so I may pop over and see if it works any better. If not, I may get a hold of Murray to get one of those 4 RPM units that dpaulson (here in the forum) referred to. _________________ Martin.

Tallcorn,
You'd really be surprised how clean it actually burns. I just topped the stove up for the night, so it's been running for around 10 hours with no vent, and that shop has less smoke in it than it would after 5 minutes of welding. It's hardly even fair to call it smoke. It's more like a little hazy.
But now... I'm feeling a little... s.l.e.e.p.y..... Y.a.w.n.... ZZZZzzzzz....

When i was testing a 6039 US Stove in my garage i used about $15 worth of 3" sheet metal duct from Home Depot and ran it out the window.
It took it 12 hours to get my 40X24 up to 60F
