You may want to have this made into a Sticky. At two and a half months mine will go next season. _________________ Quadra-Fire Santa Fe / Mt. Vernon AE /C-1-330 Board with Wall Control/ Shur-Kleen Screener/ Mobile Corn Vac |

| Mine went and within a week he had to replace igniters for three other customers with the EA, I think based on that he ordered extra for future anticipated failures. I haven't talked to him lately to see what happened. I know he was concerned about it because he usually didn't have that many in parts. I would guess this might be a tough one to fix. It seems to be on a lot. But in comparing it to a burner on a electric stove they last quite a while so maybe it is a bad batch. who knows maybe they put igniters out on bids and someone lowballed it with inferior igniters. big business you know. |

my igniter is still going strong but I have been burning pellets (found some really amazing ones for a good price) so it doesn't need to stay on as long as with corn. Might go in a few weeks now that I've said that though;)
How do you know when your igniting has gone out? Just not starting up and getting min fire pot temps or does it error out with a failed igniter error? _________________ Quadrafire Mt. Vernon AE

| The easy way to tell if your igniter is bad is when your stove doesn't light up, no smoke , and you don't see that red spot between the ash pan and bottom of burning pot. You also may get a missed ignition message and a whole bunch of unburned corn in the ash pan. Ron |

well mine went out on sat. have been starting it manualy ever three hours or so, like having a new born in the house, just get to sleep and i hear the stove going through the clean out. Mine lasted 4+ months. Have been running it on low most of the time so fewer start ups. Service man supposed to show up today. Will have extras on hand for next year _________________ Quad AE/ST Croix Auburn/Fahrenheit 50

yeah, i timed the length the coil is on when i got the new board and it was on for close to 40 minutes. in my opinion the fire is going well enough after 10 minutes. If this could be adjusted to a shorter time the coil life would be extended considerably. I bought some pellets and use a butane torch, have the fire going in less than a minute, I sure wish they would have made the manual mode on the stove a true" operator decides "when the stove cleans itself and how fast the convection fan runs,,,a little more user friendly. If a person didn't want to make such decisions they could put it on auto. But in situations where the consumer is waiting on parts and service personnel it might be nice to be able to make some of the operational decisions on sight. Its a good stove when it works, but there is always going to be that little dark cloud in the back of my mind of "i wonder if it will be running when i get home". From reading on the forum all stoves have their problems, but some stoves are more user friendly and can be made to work with some imaginative thinking until the right part can be obtained. The AE isn't really one of those stoves. (IMO) But my service man has already called and will be here this morning. If it weren't for my fantastic dealer I would be a very unhappy camper _________________ Quad AE/ST Croix Auburn/Fahrenheit 50

thanks for the post mac. i am wanting to keep track of these igniters. and true this is a more automated stove and a new design. hopefully down the road when they have watched and listened to people on this forum and others, they can come up with a happy medium to work for everyone. i have been one of the lucky ones that all i do is fill the hopper and clean it. and i have one of there other stoves so i have something to compare it to. _________________ Quadra Fire

thats how my stove works too, at least 95% of the time. its the times that it isn't functioning that can be frustrating. I took the advice of one of the forum members and put the stove on utility pellets and the ignitor is off after ten min. The fire is going strong after 2 minutes. Will the service people be able to change the time that this coil is on with the usb cord, or is that something that is not changeable without a whole new board???? burning straight corn, manual, med. low -3 on utility pellets setting. _________________ Quad AE/ST Croix Auburn/Fahrenheit 50

mac the factory can create new fuel tables (which houses the igniter timing) but currently the USB cable can't. It will be able to in the future (i'm presuming). I doubt quad wants every one sending in samples of fuel to them to create specialized fuel tables. It would be much easier to have the dealers or the users themselves do it.
On another note my igniter hasn't gone out by my exhaust fan is dieing. and luckily its a balmy 5F outside:( _________________ Quadrafire Mt. Vernon AE
