Professor Gene Simpson provided the following Observations regarding The 600
Rocket and Air Delivery System for Poultry Houses. See (below) what he observed in
his own words about The 600 Rocket:

600 Rocket
Corn-Fired Furnace and Air Delivery System for Poultry Houses
Observations by Gene Simpson, Extension Economist and Professor, Auburn University, AL

• The 600 Rocket is fueled with corn, a locally available, renewable biomass energy source.
• The furnace is located in a shed on the outside of the poultry house. Heated air from the
furnace is distributed throughout the house in a simple fan-assisted duct system.
• External combustion means no in-house releases of CO2 and Water (H2O), common downsides
of propane combustion in brooders and heaters.
• No in-house combustion also means lower relative humidity (RH) and ammonia (NH3) level.
• It’s all about providing the most economical source of heat (BTUs) and delivering that heat
uniformly throughout the poultry house. The goal is to reduce heating costs while improving
bird performance.
• 1 bushel of corn contains about 450,000 BTUs. 1 gallon of propane contains about 90,000
BTUs.
• From a heat content (BTUs) standpoint, 1 bushel of corn is equivalent to about 5 gallons of
propane.
• A poultry house growing 7 flocks of small birds per year typically uses about 5,500 gallon of
propane.
• A Rocket 600 system can produce those same 7 flocks with about 1,100 bushels of corn.
• With lower RH and NH3, litter quality is greatly improved. This means litter can be maintained
in the poultry house for more flocks without requiring full cleanout. The result is that less
litter has to be removed and disposed of as fertilizer via land application.
• In addition to saving several thousand dollars per house each year on heating fuel cost, the
more uniform, improved in-house environment typically results in flock performance
improvements.
• Birds grown in this environment typically exhibit lower mortality, better weight gain, and better
feed conversion. This improved performance can amount to a thousand dollars or more per
house each year.

One of our dealers contacted me with this info they said they posted it on their new website so I found it. I thought I would share this with you guys.
