Well not all new - just a little Quack Science afoot
We were chatting about pot level in the burn chamber so I am trying the same experiment I challenged JA to - Not that JA isn't capable - but two testes are better than one quizie.
All I did was weld two pieces of scrap the the TOP of the factory multi fuel pot - the flange was already drilled to accept 180 degree orientation
and I shoved the bottom plate in.
Note the air holes are now all at the bottom - still wondering about that - I think there may be need for secondary combustion air holes up a bit but this is what Quack Science is all about - the need to fail around to a new way - some say "thinking out of the box" I am not that confident
Now first impressions because the havn't been cooking more than 15 minutes.... I am surprised at the amount of "wood gas" being produced out the bottom of the pot flange by the air blowing thur new fuel - can you see it - I am a piss poor photographer - its the white ghost there near the base tab but it is smoking all along the flange at a hi rate.
I did pull the turbulators and gave the HX a quick lick and prayer but there was enough heat soak left that the feed auger came on in two minutes and two minutes more we had 150 upper smoke chamber temps and the wood gas ignited
OK time to open a cold one and go sit by baby boiler with the dog but one more thing. I also pulled the feed reducers to level my test with past result of the same feed parameters. Some have asked about them.
Here are the Transcontinental Intergalactic pieces of hard wood - each will reduce input by one pound per hour - per feed cup - when under 24/7 hi fire.
Oh you noticed the wood dust did you - Thats left from appx 30 35 bags of Fiber by product - not tooooo shabby.
PS -- The multi pot was cracked badly in early January. I repaired it and since smoked about 4 ton of pellets and some awful burn rates to carry my load. I venture to say I fire harder than most. NO CRACKS this time - a little metal erosion from all the fire - but certified welding practices - even by an old shaky guy do correct expansion issues. Send me your pot and your pay pal account for more details.
Kind Regards

The Morning after the Night Before:
I think this arrangement is burning too rich - burn chamber has a bit more soot.
But that could equate to less hi fire time - I used about 40 lbs less than expected fuel last night and the appliance was in 16 minute (idle draft off) mode longer - Hi teens low 20 last night.
Ill try to live with it another couple of days as set. Maybe stick in one feed reducer shim to lean the burn slightly tonight.
