I have seen this stove run but they never seem to burn anything other than pellets in it. Makes me wonder why no corn. This is here in corn country. I haven't seen a cost on them yet. _________________ LET Energy Systems

With a 500 cfm fan, how was the heat output? That is a lot of air being moved. Interresting stove, though. From the picture, it looks like it has just two big holes to blow the heat out. _________________ LDJ 165K BOILER / Harman PC45 / Kan_Burn Cleaner/Mover - the original |

The dealer I was talking to told me an interesting story about the heat from the stove. He said he was standing next to it while talking to a customer and started to feel something hot next to his belt. He looked down to discover that the plastic from his tape ruler had melted away! _________________ Profit/Turnaround Expert: http://webpages.charter.net/rennhack1/index.html |

Bixby's early design used an "O" enhancer but as they developed the burner it started burning so hot that they just got read of it and use just the burn pot. _________________ LET Energy Systems

I understand that the word Oxygen on an A E S, means stirring the burnpot. Can anyone clarify this? _________________ Heat with Lamppa Kuuma wood furnace and Rika Austroflamm pellet stove. |

I have seen a Hestia in action. They are nice, bout as big as a UBB but not quite. I found the heat to be very good and they are easy to use, in the limited use time I saw them in. From what I understand, you check the air flow using a draft gauge then push "on" and that's it.
There is an agitator in the "burn pot" which seems to work pretty nicely, spreading out the flames (fuel) across the pot. The agitator I saw consisted of the front wall of the burn pot ossilating back and forth, crushing and mixing what is in the burn pot. It seemed to be very effective.
As for corn, I didn't se them run corn but I just happen to have some corn , so I may drop some off to the guy to check it out. The ignightor was similar to the old Bixby ignightors, so I figure they will do fine.
The system is not like the Bixby 115 and more like other mfg systems using vacuum switches and the like... but wow great heat. The convection fan is big, like the maxfire and UBB.
Oh ya.. it has this neat feature, don't know how useful it is yet, but you can turn on the exhaust fan without starting the stove. It sucks out the airborn dust as you clean the stove. |
