I stepped up my fuses tonight and the circuits held -- so it was a dumb arithmetic mistake after all
but now I am moving some of the dirtiest corn I ever fought - The lift auger in question here in now jamming at full feed and stalling the 1/2 hp used washing machine motor. I am sure full feed doesn't help
so I took the contraption apart again and made two improvements
1- I cut a gap into the Bugle for an adjustable sort of blast gate -vs the fixed reducer of the past. Now I have another method of mix variation
2 - I took a 3 inch PVC Y split it and inserted a piece of 1/4 inch hardware cloth - sort of skinny really mini Kan-Burn and hung this on the end of the fall out from the space shuttle and just above the 1/2 inch large junk cleaning screen. I should have taken pics as I cut and fitted but at the time I was possessed to see if I could even do it! its hooked to my salvaged industrial dryer - now my corn/pellet dust collection
this should condition 4 to 5 bushel a minute and Ill have to slow the auger to accommodate the new bottle neck and new slower delivery rate from the space shuttle out door storage.
My goal here is not to super clean the fuel -- just get the Loins share of the dirt removed before the seed is dried from storage to burnable moisture levels.
The first cleaner I made some seasons ago would almost polish each seed -- that was over the top and got parked very soon _________________ When you turn your boiler on - - Does it return the favor?

the driven pulley is a proprietary hub and pulley of the international pull type combine I salvaged this bin from. I suppose I could machine some modern pulley on to it but its so close to the floor that sizing up wouldn't get me far.
Note the pics I am already too close to the boiler room ceiling joist and I don't want to pound a hole in the floor for pulley clearance
yet
With the bin baffled I was getting about a bushel a minute - Non-Baffled Full feed may have been too much anyway. Funny how size can make some girls happy! _________________ When you turn your boiler on - - Does it return the favor?

We are going to have to start that install of your boiler to help out the furnace - then you can heat the rest of your little place and make all that Domestic hot water you use every day! _________________ When you turn your boiler on - - Does it return the favor?

I need one more auger
I had a flighting but the tubing was shot - so I cut the edges down to fit it in 6 inch PVC - made some wooden shims/bearings for the ends and did a little better job of documentation.
This is the receiving end - note the wooden bearing
and this is the outlet with the motor brackets
I must be getting old - this took all darn afternoon and some of my evening! _________________ When you turn your boiler on - - Does it return the favor?

Loaded 10 bags of pellets into the feed cart system tonight
pictures soon of that
but I needed to test it finally
it gave me over 10 bushel a minuet
I just got back from the hardware store with the biggest and smallest pulley that they had for both ends -- my calcs say they should reduce my delivery to closer to 4.5 and I can cut my corn side to 2 to keep my mix a bit rich on the pellet side till it gets colder. _________________ When you turn your boiler on - - Does it return the favor?

Well that don't work The cracked corn get sucked tight in the 1/4 inc mesh and blocks the vacuum
So I turned it 90 degrees and it keeps a bit more of the dirt out of the dryer but then that was the goal
Any way -- the feed system mixes a perfect 2 to 1 batch into the appliance bin in 15 seconds
The boiler is hot tonight
I am taking the rest of it off so I can wear my kick me sign and pet the cat _________________ When you turn your boiler on - - Does it return the favor?

Thats about how long it takes me to dump one bag in the boiler, after my son has hauled them next to the boiler for me to load. That is an impressive time. _________________ Burning pellets and loving it. |

I bolted some plywood to a piece of scrap pipe today just to see show it would work out!
and I became inpatient to try my home made auger -- plus I wasn't going to hand carry any more bags -- I had loaded 10 into the pellet bin already -- so I rigged the new pellet pig trough in the window over the auger and fired the business up with the dust collection system running and the auger powered with a couple extension cords -- still needs a little tuning and some remote switching would be nice -- not yet ready for prime time but its entertaining when the girls are out shopping!
I started with the fall out hole here a bit reduced but everything went fine - that plastic 6 inch auger handles the pellets with ease and tenderness so ill open this up to a full 4 inches next time -- and if that works maybe Ill build a 6 inch pellet pig trough and try a full feed !! But then I can only swing the bags in so fast and not over exert so maybe a bit more paced speed due to equipment isn't a bad thing _________________ When you turn your boiler on - - Does it return the favor?
