Molex Connector

From Cornburning

Jump to: navigation, search

A general trade name for a type of wire connector. These connectors find common use in corn stoves for hooking wires to circuit boards and also connections for powering fans. Generally, molex connectors are only used in low voltage situations. But some are rated for higher voltages as well. Molex connectors are also "keyed" meaning they can only be plugged together one way because of the way the plastic connector is shaped, either with a protruding bar which must line up with a corisponding slot.

Or, in some cases, the connector has corners which are square on two or three sides, but then angled on on the other corner, or corners. Again, the purpose of these angles are so the connector can not be accidently reversed, or rotated, when it is attached. This type of molex connector as shown is very common in computer equipment as well being used as fan connectors.
