Pelletizing Research

This page is just going to be a dumping ground for a while. A place to drop information about small scale pelletizing. As information fills in, it will be formatted.
A cold biomass pelletizing technology – the HighZones Technology The researchers from Beijing Guo-Neng-Hui-Yuan Biomass Energy Development Company Ltd (hereafter referred to as GNHY Company) and Tsinghua University (hereafter referred to as TU) have cooperatively invented a “cold” biomass pelletizing technology, i.e. a technology for biomass pelletizing at ambient temperature – HighZones Technology [3] . The mechanism of HighZones Technology differs greatly from those of existing hot press technologies. The dies of cold pelletizer make comminuted raw biomass materials be extruded by lower normal pressure and shear stress simultaneously, in the extrusion process biomass substrates slip between each other and form thin layers, the layers cross and overlap together, going through holes of the dies and being molded to pellets. The structure of pellets produced with HighZones Technology is quite strengthened. Therefore, HighZones Technology doesn’t need heating, additives or binders. In comparison, hot press technologies mainly rely on higher temperature (below or above 200℃) and higher pressure, so inside structure of hot press pellets has no the characters as cold press pellets.
