Setting up your corn burner outside and starting a fire to burn off all the paint fumes and manufacturing oils is known as Pre-burning. This is an excellent thing to do. It makes it so that you don't get these nasty fumes in your house. Generally it takes just an hour of burning outside to get the stove in good condition to move indoors.
