The best way to keep the rodent population down is to use sealed containers or outdoor storage, and to keep everything clean. But, if you are storing a season's worth of corn that might not be possible. If that is the case you have several options.

Trapping probably is not an option. Why would a mouse risk a trap when the are a few thousand pounds of open corn sitting close by? However, that being said, I have heard of people being successful with trapping mice using cotton balls as bait in the trap. The cotton ball is nesting material and so desirable to the mouse.

The best form of rodent control is the good old fashioned natural kind,

Cats are very effective rodent controllers. Even the scent of a cat in a house will many times cause a rodent to move on to easier pickings.

Of course there is also the drastic option that works for both rodents AND THE TAX MAN!
