Rust treatment

"You can knock down that rust easliy enough using a dremel tool or small grinder and wire wheel. That will clean it right off as will some 80 grit sand paper. Clean it off well and shiny then wipe with paint thinner. Yes its explosive but you aren't going to do this when its running or for the next day right???? No problem then. Go to the nearest auto Hot rod store. Auto Zone or Advance may not have it so go to a speed shop where guys go to soup up their hot rods. Buy a can of paint for EXHAUST HEADERS or just ask for the highest temp paint they have. Spray on as the can says and behold. You should be good to 1400F or so. The Air Force has some really neat stuff for their reentry vehicles ( nukes) but you might have to join up to get some. That header paint will do the trick believe me and if any surfaces again just clean it off with sandpaper and reshoot. There should be enough in a can to last the life of the stove. Of course make sure it is fully dry for whatever time the can says before lighting the stove, make sure it doesn't stink for safety's sake when you light it. They have some really neat hi temp paints with ceramic in it just for these type useages. Believe me you can keep up with any rust that stove grows for as long as it will reasonably last by doing this. There, now that I gave you the secret you can come over and finish sanding the hood of my 1950 tractor down to the metal like I have been doing all day. Hardware store BBQ grill paint also works very well!
