Stir Rod/Stirrer
From Cornburning
There are two general types of corn burners. Those that move the corn around while it is being burned, and those that don't. Of the ones that do, they usually employ some type of Stirrer Rod, such as pictured. This stirrer stays in constant motion while the corn is burning. There are those people who say you get a more complete burn of the corn if the corn is in motion. In most stove designs you do not get the hard clinker buildup in the burn pot, altho you still get some clinker even with a stirrer. In some designs the clinker actually sticks to the stirrer, requiring it to be cleaned periodically.
