Safety disc defective
Remedy: The safety disc is normally open and closes on temperature rise. It must be up to temperature and lock in to allow the burner to run. If you are sure that it is not reacting to temperature, then you can test its defectiveness by bypassing from one terminal to another. If burner activates after bypassing, then replace safety disc.
Here is an example of bypassing the safety disk:
The safety disk is attached to the smoke box underneeth a cover. Here, you can see the wires have been un-attached from the safety disk and the black wire jumpers between the two wires. In this position the cup motor and feed auger should turn, even if there is no fire in the firebox.
PLEASE NOTE: The wires at the safety disk are 110 volts and could cause death if you become the conductor between the two. Make SURE the power is off before you open the safety disk cover or attempt to jumper the wires.
The safety disk is also a finicky item. You will find that it might not actually be defective, but only sticky. So, it might be that if you jumper the safety disk for a couple of hours, then hook it back up, it will have heated enough to work consistently in the future.
