Vegetable Oil
From Cornburning
There have been good reports of burning a small amount of vegetable oil in with the corn in the hopper. This is done by pouring roughly 4-6 oz per bushel over the top of the corn as it sits in the hopper. It is supposed to keep the dust down while the corn feeds into the burn pot and also and improve feeding of the corn through the auger.
The jury is still out however on if it has any other effect. There are some reports of better fires, and fires that don't go out, however, that seems unlikely given the amount of oil being added compared to the amount of corn. Please report to the corn burners forum (http://forum.iburncorn.com/viewtopic.php?t=417) if you are doing this technique and how effective it is.
