Vent
From Cornburning
The type of vent you need is important. The condensate from corn burning stoves is very corrosive to traditional black or galvanized vent pipe. For corn burning, it is recommended that only stainless steel pipe be used. Here is a double walled stainless pipe.
Here is a completely rotted heavy duty black steel elbow after "4 going on 5" years of use with a corn stove. Thanks to Tallcorn for this pic discussed at http://forum.iburncorn.com/viewtopic.php?t=4590 and for his subsequent advice to inspect the venting at least annually regardless of the type of fuel (or metal) used.
For wood pellet burning, requirments are not so stringent but remember, you can also burn corn in a pellet burner. If pellets become hard to find, having the chimney rated sufficently to be able to burn corn would be a good thing.
